of course the obvious answer which is, segregation was banned everywhere against anyone of a different race or religion, the act banned the segregation in schools, bathrooms, you name it and they were allowed inside. this act also prohibited employment discrimination, so that the African Americans were treated the same as the whites (like that they were payed the same amount of wage). in summary pretty much all the behavior that the act prohibited was just showing discrimination to anyone with a different race, color or religion.
as my class watched the video on the children's march, it was really impactful and really inspiring to see all these young children, ages raging from 4-18, being so proud and unafraid of what would happen to them. they were incredibly joyful to go to jail and after being sprayed with the fire hoses they came out the next day in bathing suits! their courage and strength is incredible!! i know i would be very scared if i was to sit in jail for one day let alone almost a week. and the video shows how their strength and relentlessness conquered the police, the firemen and even the kkk. i am very excited to go on this field trip once again and be lucky enough to walk around Birmingham seeing the town desegregated and walking where these brave children once walked.
